This course has become an internationally recognized standard designed by Tree Climber’s International (TCI). The Basic Tree Climbing Course teaches proficiency using Doubled Rope Technique (DdRT). You will develop “muscle memory” by repeatedly tying the knots critical for safe climbing. Other modules include managing the throw weight, alternate foot assists, doubled rope end climbing (DREC) and hazard detection. After each module, you’ll have time to practice each element.
The two day course is very comprehensive and physically active. You’ll need adequate sleep, protein and hydration. Your muscles may be sore but you’ll enjoy a great sense of accomplishment when finished. After completion, you’ll be offered a written exam. You’ll be awarded a lifetime membership in TCI, a supplemental DVD taught by Peter Jenkins (father of recreational tree climbing) and a certificate of achievement from TCI.
